She was a lazy person. When she had seen the mansion at first, she had thought maybe she would get lucky and have her own room. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. Also, she wasn't exactly able to sleep with a whole bunch of people in the room. She didn't like to describe herself as a spoiled little rich girl, but...she kind of was. Her dad got paid big bucks to make magic shoot out of wans and tsunami's to ruin fake cities. Since her mom had decided to live a life of depression, Riley was kind of stuck with her dad and Shawna. during that time, she had had her own part of the house, which would make college kids jealous.
It was now rounding five in the morning, and the light blue glow was just peaking over the horizon. The bluish glow infiltrated the tower room in an oddly hazy kind of way. She was dressed in her pajamas. A light green camisole top and printed shorts with frogs and lily-pads on them. She even had the frog slippers to match. Her hair was pulled back into a loose ponytail hanging down her back. A few strands of her long dark hair strayed about, regaining it's natural curl. She would have to remember and straighten it later. Crossing the room, Riley sat on a couch under the large picturesque window that faced out over the town of Prevalence. A small sliver of orange burst into the sky, shooting a pinkish glow around the edges of the clouds.
Sights like this seemed to never happen in California. There was too much pollution. In that moment, she actually appreciated the small town atmosphere. She found she could actually see the sky for what it really was. In Cali, no one paid much attention to nature. Riley was no exception. She almost never thought to water the plants. She never even had a high-maintenance pet. Meaning, she stuck to hamsters and gerbils. She also had a snake once. Unfortunately, she wasn't allowed to bring it and her stepmother swore she wouldn't go near it. So, Riley had to get rid of her. That meant flush. Looking forlornly out the window and up at the sky, Riley sighed. "Oh Kinoki. I'm sorry that dumb bitch wouldn't feed you. I miss you, Kinoke's. I'll see you on the other side one of these days. I prom-" Riley jumped, turning toward the door to see a shadowy outline of someone, and hearing a clatter of some object falling to the floor.

Tricia slammed her hand on top of her Samsung Comeback hoping to turn off the alarm. After a moment of lying there she jerked up. "Oh no," she whispered to herself hoping that she wouldn't wake up her roomates. She examined her shorts and t-shirt before deciding no one else would be up there to see her slobbiness. She fumbled with her purse for a second trying to find her camera. After finding it she grabbed her phone and sprinted to the tower. She skidded to a stop at the bottom of the steps and glanced at her phone. Hopefully she hadn't missed the most amazing sunrise in ages.
Tricia took the stairs two at a time and gasped when she could see everything in slow-motion again. Her hair was a mess! Why hadn't she thought of brushing it? As she got to the top of the stairs she stopped and began to put her hair into a bun. Her camera and phone slipped from her hands and fell to the ground. She sighed and finished with her hair before picking up the things she had dropped. Glancing up she noticed a girl in the room.
Tricia gave a small grin and hoped she hadn't seem the monsterous hair she was dealing with seconds before. "Sorry if you're enjoying the sun, but I planned on taking a few pictures." Giving a small shy smile The junior darted to the window and pulled her camera up to her eyes. She sighed at the beauty of the sunrise and smiled. It was moments like these where the sun was a pink flaming ball just peaking over the clouds ready to light up the sky. It's warm red edges turning the sky into a wonderful rainbow where the earth sighed in harmony at the sight. With one movement Tricia began to snap shots of the ever changing earth as the sun rose. She hadn't missed a thing. With joy she took her camera and phone and sat down on the floor of the tower hoping to view her pictures.

Nodding, Riley scrunched over some more on the couch to give the girl room. She didn't get out and about among people much, but she had seen this girl around before. it was impossible not to see everyone's face at least once. Technically they all lived in the same place, even if it was monstrous. "Yeah, sure, no problem. It's beautiful. Can't see this through the smog where I'm from." She gestured out the window at the sunset as the girl took pictures. She hadn't thought to do it, and now taking pictures seemed kind of like it would make her a copycat. She made a mental note to take pictures some other time.
Riley's eyes went back out the window. As the sun rose in the sky, it got brighter and caused Riley to squint. As tired as she was, squinting was almost a threat of sleep. She fiddled with the hem of her pajama shorts. She wasn't good with silence, but she was socially awkward. Sometimes, she would break an awkward silence, other times she wouldn't. It really always depended upon the situation at hand. It didn't seem so threatening now. Although, she really didn't want to blend into the couch or anything. That got annoying.
"Does your camera actually get good pictures of the sky? I mean, I see the professional pictures all the time, but I have yet to find an actual camera that can take a picture of the sky without it turning out blurry or taken up by one main color. It really never captures the moment, you know?" She stopped short talking, ending with her go-to phrase. When she didn't quite know how to end speaking, she just added 'ya know.' Maybe it was a California thing, though. She tapped her hands on her knees in a small beat, not sure what else to do. There had been a song stuck in her head, and that was the beat she was drumming out. Paralyzed by Finger Eleven. It was far too catchy. An evil song.

Gecko trudged up the, what seemed like, ancient stone steps to the top of the tower. This was his usual stop so early in the morning. He never really slept in late. In fact he hardly slept at all. So, when he was up at the crack of dawn, he came here , the highest point in town, to watch the sun come up and watch as the town slowly woke with it.
His tank top was tucked around his belt to his jeans and under one arm he carried his board and his sketch pad. Zach was surprised to see two girls up there already, usually this place was deserted. It looked like one had just taken a few pictures and the other was barely awake herself.
He stood there at the top of the stairs for a second rubbing his bare chest with his free hand, before finally deciding to take a seat on one of the window ledges. He set his board down by his feet, pulled his pack of cigs from his front pocket and lit one.
"You girls smoke?" He asked his cigarette hanging loosely from his lips.

Tricia smiled at her beautiful pictures. John really shouldn't have wasted his money buying her the camera but she was glad he did. She glanced up at the other girl when she asked a question. "Oh yeah it takes great pics. My brother got it for me on Christmas last year. It's almost the one I want, here come look." Tricia glanced at the couch and noticed an open spot. She bounded forward and took a seat. After all, she was wearing short shorts and the floor was extremely cold, maybe the couch wasn't such a bad idea.
A guy came up from the shadows of the now waking school. He took a seat by the window and away from the girls. For a moment Tricia ignored him and went about meeting this new girl that she had seen around. "My name's Tricia, but call me Trish, and you?" She grinned and glanced up when the boy asked a question. "Smoke?!" She shouted jumping from the couch. Her phone vibrated. She reached down and grabbed it before continuing her yelling. "Do you want to no how many people die because of smoking?" See the sun? -John. "So many people I know have died! No I don't smoke!" Yeah, got some great pics, I'll send them to you.
[/i] Tricia's hand flew up into the air controlling the rocks on the earth below. Five small rocks came through the window and began to circle her. "I'll show you smoking." She flung one hand forward sending a rock flying toward the cigarette hanging from the boy's mouth. Hopefully it wouldn't hit him.[/blockquote][/blockquote][/size] 290 :Words Complete :Status Riley, Zach :Tag None :Muse

Zach saw the rock heading for his cig. Quickly he flipped it into his mouth. When the rock went sailing past, he flipped it back out of his mouth and took a long drag. "Sucks to be you." He finally answered her. Then, to the other girl, "What about you? You want a cigarette or are you as psychotically against them as your friend here?"
He winked Trish's way flashing her a boyish grin and took another long drag. There was nothing like the cool burn of a menthol to wake him up in the morning. That and a good drawing would start the day off right.
He surveyed over the other girl. She was pretty; kind of reminded him of Levi, what with her reddish hair and all. But she seemed more...laid back...like she went with the flow instead always screaming to have the flow...flow her way. There was just a refreshing calmness about her that he liked. Of course, she hadn't said anything yet. She could be as scary as her blond friend. Although, Zach thought he kind of liked her too.

She hadn't been that interested in it, but it was small talk, and that she could do sometimes. "Yeah, definitely can't capture this on the cameras I always get. Of course, My dad is a total cheapskate." She laughed nervously, rolling her eyes. Her dad was actually a big wig in Hollywood, but that didn't mean he wasn't cheap. Her dad would spend ten dollars to save one cent sometimes. "Thank god the year just started though. Plenty more of this to come except...it'll be cold. Pretty....but cold." She smiled, then looked up when she heard a voice coming into the room. She had a moment to wonder if this was the most visited room at night in the house.
When he asked if they smoked, Riley was about to nod and ask for a cigarette, but the girl next to her almost immediately started to throw a conniption. She blinked in amazement, and sort of awe. She was either very much in with the rules, or she really, honestly hated smoking that much. She silently wondered if she were one of the bohemian vegan girls. She finally looked at the guy and noticed who he was. It was Zach. he had a sister named Angela. Riley had talked to Angela before, but hadn't really seen Zach except in passing. She offered a small wave and smiled weakly when the rock-throwing stopped. She remembered thinking Zach was hot at one time, when she was a bit younger.
"No, apparently I support killing people." She shrugged and held out a lazy hand, "If you're offering, I'll take one. Kind of hard to score smokes when I don't talk to any people over eighteen. I guess...well, your sister normally gets my cigarettes. I'm guessing that would probably make you my supplier anyway, huh? Unless she has another big brother somewhere..." Riley laughed and turned her head back out the window. The son was now a bright orange circle sitting just above the horizon. A pinkish light filled the room and cast hazy shadows all about. It made Riley feel as if she were in some sort of dream sequence in a video game.

Zach's smile widened as he held out his pack, a cigarette extended, "Alright then. It's good to hear I'm not the only sociopath here today."
He took another long drag blowing his smoke toward blondie. "You know, if you're really so afraid of smoke, I'd hate to be you right now. Statistics show that second hand smoke affects you more than first hand. Frankly, by smoking I'm saving myself from the dangers of being in your shoes." He gave her another wink before turning to the other girl.
He looked over her again, trying to revive his memory of days passed. Being the druggie he was, that wasn't at all the easiest task. But after a moment, he could somewhat recall some hot little redhead running around with Angie...sure.
"Yeah...I think I remember you." He said slowly still looking over her curiously. "Um...Riley right?"

Tricia frowned when the rock missed his cigarette. She sat spinning the rocks in her hands mindlessly. She refused to breath in the smoke but somethings were needed. Her eye twitched when he asked the other girl about having a cigarette. "Disgusting," she muttered to herself. The other took the cigarette. A part of her wanted to heal them even though there was no danger, but another part of her wanted to leave them so they could die in their own posion. She lifted a palm toward the girl who was claimed to be Riley. Her palm turned slightly blue as she began to heal. Luckily Trish didn't need to touch to heal. She loved being able to do it from a distance so that she didn't need to get up close and personal to people.
Tricia listened to the guy's comment about second hand smoke. "Trust me sweetie, if I need healing I think I can handle it. Anyway, I don't think one time being around idiots will kill me." she paused not sure if she should continue. She hated being rude to other people. Her hand moved over to the other smoking person. after a moment she dropped her hand to her phone and glanced at it. Can't wait, you take the best pics. -John. Tricia smiled and began to text back. I'll get them to you as soon as I can... Currently dealing with people who smoke. Idiots. Tricia took up her camera and began to scroll through the pictures again choosing the best ten to send to her brother when she found a computer. I can't believe you're still hung up about that. -John. She frowned at the phone. I'll never forgive dad for that. I don't care if it wasn't something he caused directly, he still smoked. She glanced up at the two cigarettes putting off smoke. What a terrible fate for anyone to go through.

Zach chuckled. "Idiots are we?" He took one last long drag before flicking his cig out the window. He watched as the glowing cherry flickered in the wind and finally went out before falling the rest of the way to the ground.
He paused a moment, considering whether or not he was ready to draw or not, then shook his head. Pulling out his pack he grabbed the joint he had tucked away under his cigarettes, and lit it up. If that girl was against smoking she probably was extremely against drugs...but oh well. It was his life not hers.
He then picked up his tablet and began to draw, using the still quiet Riley as his muse.

Riley looked down when she laughed a little. "Actually a sociopath is someone who can't feel emotions, it doesn't really- Er. Nevermind." She shook her head in spite of herself and looked at Zach when he asked her name, then said it before she answered, "Yeah, I know your sister. I guess she's probably still sleeping huh?" She smiled, thinking of her friend who was quite possibly the only person lazier than Riley herself. About that time Tricia's hand was closer to her and glowing blue as she inhaled a drag of cigarette. Riley furrowed her brow, wondering what she was doing. When she said something about healing, Riley got up and moved away.
She found a different plush chair, hopefully far enough away from the blonde that she couldn't do that. "No offense, but if this idiot wants to be healed," She pointed to herself, and smiled sarcastically, "She'll ask. And, I'm cool. Maybe it'll kill me someday. When that day comes, I...still don't care." She shrugged, and it was obvious that Riley honestly did not care that smoking was damaging to her health. She was just that kind of person. Riley took another long drag of her cigarette to emphasize her point and tilted her head back blowing the smoke up toward the ceiling. Sure, Riley may have thought Tricia was being a little controlling, but she wasn't going to blow smoke at her either.
Looking down at Zach, he now had his drawing pad out. She sat in silence for a moment, just smoking her cigarette away. She leaned back, laying on the chair sort of sideways. Her head was draped over an arm, and her legs hung over the other, leaving her body to lay in the seat. She smelled the smoke from Zach's joint and looked down at him, "Hey, didn't anyone ever teach you to share?" She laughed and opened the window next to her to toss her cigarette out.
